Oldham-Cummings VFW Post 6441

Home of the Annual Wimberley VFW July 4th Pro Rodeo and Ladies Auxiliary Dance   [Link to Official Rodeo Website]

Since 1946, Oldham-Cummings VFW Post 6441 has been serving Veterans and the community in the Texas Hill Country surrounding the beautiful town of Wimberley –  where it is based.

Offering a “family friendly, smoke-free” environment with no bar, the Post organizes and hosts numerous events every year, in addition to the highly renowned Annual Oldham-Cummings VFW July 4th Pro Rodeo since 1946.  We also conduct our  “Bingo” sessions every Friday night with the proceeds benefiting the local community. The membership of the Oldham-Cummings VFW 6441 are proud and honored to support our wounded warriors and lost brothers.  We  proudly place flags at our veterans resting place every year.

Some of the places we contribute to are:

Returning Heroes Home is helping hundreds of Wounded Warriors and their Families heal since 2006.  Returning Heroes Home gives our Wounded Warriors and their Families a place to go outside of a sterile medical and rigid military environment they face every day at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. The Center for the Intrepid (CFI) is an advanced outpatient rehabilitation center which blends therapy, simulation, and extreme sports.  It is the ultimate joint venture between the American people and the armed forces. Funded through the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund by donations from over 600,000 Americans,  the facility is now an integral part of Brooke Army Medical Center. The Oldham-Cummings VFW Post 6441 members have fun together.  From BBQ cook-offs to Color Guards in parades – we work to have fun and bring joy to our community.

Post New Year in Review

The Post will be undergoing many changes in 2015.  The officer ranks will be changing with a new Senior Vice Commander, Junior Vice Commander and Quartermaster.  In addition – the 2015 Rodeo purse will be increased to draw the best in world class cowboys.  The Post Rodeo Committee has made a commitment to the Rodeo producer, sponsors and community to bring the best out door rodeo in Texas to Wimberley in 2015.

Here is a summary of the Post 2015 goals:

1. Produce another successful annual July 4th Rodeo, participate in the local July 4th Parade and nightly fireworks  for the citizens of Wimberley Valley.

2. Support the Post Ladies Auxiliary in producing several weekend dances including Friday night bingo, musical concerts, chili cook-offs and we are planning on a great 2015 Post calendar of events.

Come and join the Post members in making 2015 a year of celebration.
